Paul Isaacs

Original Works

About the Artist

Paul Isaacs is a painter primarily of landscapes, both real and imagined. Based in San Francisco, Paul has been painting for 31 years and draws inspiration from architecture, nature, cartoons, geometry, and perspective.

Paul paints a lot when traveling, particularly in Provincetown. He has been painting at Captain Jack's Wharf during 2-week trips every summer since 1995, and considers that particular place his muse. He has painted Captain Jack's from every perspective imaginable, both inside and out.

Each painting is an original work created either on the spot, plein air, from memory, or of imagined places in his mind.

While Paul's style is representative, it is not always realistic. His style changes depending on how things feel at the moment, because rather than control the image, Paul works in a dialog between what he sees, how the paint feels and the painting progresses, what he's been thinking about, and how life is at that very moment.
